Monterey Car Week With Automobili Lamborghini

Words by Keven Amfo

Quintessentially members were invited by Automobili Lamborghini to attend the celebrated annual Monterey Car Week as their VIP guests. Centered around the grand unveiling of Lamborghini's newest supercars, the Huracán EVO and EVO Spyder the weekend was action-packed.

The three-day event took place at exclusive locations in Monterey and the surrounding area. A kickoff party on Friday in the Italian-inspired Lamborghini home started the weekend. The home's VIP hospitality lounge remained open to Q members throughout the weekend, as did the Ad Personam program. The new customisation program enables customers to personalise and configure their next Lamborghini. The invite-only showcase of their latest models took place on Saturday, along with a presentation of prized collection cars.

Q members had unprecedented access to meet and liaise with Lamborghini Chief Designer, Filippo Perini; CMO, Katia Bassi; and CEO, Stefano Domenicali. Additionally, they received the exclusive opportunity to test drive the newest models, the Huracán EVO and EVO Spyder, on some of the most breathtaking roads in the US — the canyons of Carmel.

A highlight of the weekend was the revelation of a one-off pop interpretation of the Aventador S — that took over a year to finish — by 19yo artist and "30 under 30" member Skyler Grey, who is known for mixing pop culture icons with luxury brands. "Because of the affinity we feel with the world of art, we wanted to experiment with a new creative approach, entrusting Skyler Grey with the interpretation of a car that is already itself a work of art," explained the auto brand's chief of Marketing and Communication, Katia Bassi. "It is a project connected with our new paint shop in Sant'Agata Bolognese, a place where technology and art meet and where our specialists are tasked with turning our customers' dreams into reality, in the search for aesthetic perfection." Grey customised the orange 'Arancio Atlas'-coloured car using street art methodologies such as airbrushing and spray painting, incorporating the signature Lamborghini bull trademark. The striking piece, which Lamborghini says is the first in an ongoing series, was purchased by an art collector.
