Caviar has long been one of our most favourite indulgent treats. Inherently decadent, the luxe food is best enjoyed alongside a glass of Champagne—try both at these restaurants around the capital. Mother-of-pearl spoons at the ready.

Bob Bob Cité

Like it's sister restaurant Bob Bob Ricard, this mirrored restaurant features two types of Russian caviar: Sturgeon and Oscietra. Served with perfect warm blini, caviar here is best enjoyed alongside a glass of their distilled, ice-cold vodka shots. However, their new 'Maximum Mark-Up' policy means their wines are marked up no more than £75, so each of the 120 Champagnes is now offered at a truly bargain price. Indulge in their Steak Tartare Impérial, steak tartare topped with caviar and a soft-boiled quail egg, for a real treat.

Decimo, The Standard

The signature dish at this stylish new Spanish restaurant, which sits atop the Standard Hotel in Kings Cross, is a soufflé-like Spanish tortilla, topped with 25g or 50g of caviar. Laden with diced potatoes and onion and replete with the requisite runny centre, the fluffy, rich tortilla is the perfect vehicle for enjoying the briny caviar.

The Connaught Grill

Jean-Georges Vongerichten now helms the celebrated and newly reopened restaurant within The Connaught. A modern version of the classic grill, the menu features sophisticated interpretations of traditional items. The caviar offering, Imperial Oscietra, is served atop a warm potato blini with crème fraîche. Enjoy it with a glass of Billecart-Salmon, Extra Brut.

Bellamy’s

This brasserie has a member’s club-vibe, with consistent and appealing food. The suave interiors are the perfect environs in which to enjoy a serving of caviar: Bellamy’s has three options, Baeri, Caviar d’Aquitaine, and Oscietra. Each option is a lovely accompaniment for a glass of Ruinart.

The Wolseley

A European cafe in a striking former bank on Piccadilly, The Wolseley is an excellent choice for everything from afternoon tea to an occasion dinner. Their two types of caviar are served with either blinis or a baked potato; however, we prefer the excellent Lobster & Caviar Omelette, 'Adrian.' Aim to sit in a window booth in the front bar area, for a perfect view of the activity outside.

Scott’s

Scott’s has long been celebrated for having some of the best seafood in London, so it’s no surprise that their three caviar options include Beluga. The most expensive caviar on the market, elusive Beluga caviar is typically served on toast to avoid distraction from its distinct flavour. Buttery and salty, the larger eggs are a rare treat.

A glass of champagne, stacked blinis, and an open tin of caviar are arranged on a white plate in front of them. 45 Jermyn St

At this beautiful restaurant in St James, the caviar is uniquely priced by the gram (10g minimum order per table), enabling guests to try more than one type should they wish. Served tableside from the trolley, guests can choose from classic accompaniments such as blinis, baked potatoes, or scrambled eggs. Enjoy it with a glass of their house Champagne—which, we report with much enthusiasm, is Louis Roederer.

Wiltons

In existence since 1742, Wiltons gained recognition for being the supplier of oysters to the Royal household. Their fresh seafood menu features no less than six types of oysters daily, for which caviar is an excellent friend—they too, have beluga, as well as Royal Belgian Oscietra and England’s own Cornish Salted Exmoor.
