In Ibiza, you pretty much always know what you’re getting. High-octane, late-night parties. Lowkey mornings lounging on cliff-flanked coves. A magical medley of hippie-driven boutiques and internationally loved brands. However, it also has enough newness to keep even the most regular visitor entertained – including a handful of restaurants making their debuts this season. Here are five to add to your radar.
MADUNIA, Cap Negret
Making a strong case for being Ibiza’s best outdoor dining experience is MADUNIA– a huge, four-level restaurant and bar built into a hill in Saint Anthony. It’s the kind of place that wows you on arrival, what with the endless sea views, glimmering gold lighting, and faint aroma of burning rosemary, and the food is equally impressive. Try the addictive Ibérico ham, the grapefruit-laced tuna, and the short rib wagyu – served tableside with more smoking rosemary. Oh, and sipping an ice-blue, lavender cocktail as the sea breeze ruffles your hair? Pure heaven.

CLAP Ibiza, Talamanca
It was only a matter of time before CLAP arrived in Ibiza. After all, the brand already has successful restaurant concepts in the Middle East and London, so it’s only natural the White Isle is next on its hit list. And, being in Ibiza, it’s also natural that CLAP Ibiza won’t just be an alfresco restaurant and bar. It also has a 50m swimming pool, gym, padel court, and SEVEN Wellness Club (which itself has a lovely spa) – all within 16,000 square metres of sun-bleached, boho grounds. Perfect for recovering from the night before – or relaxing in anticipation of the morning after.

MR PORTER Ibiza, Talamanca
No, we’re not talking about the fashion behemoth. This MR PORTER is a new(ish) steakhouse concept that’s already impressed diners in Amsterdam and Barcelona – and, as of 17th May, has made its way to Ibiza. Taking over the ground floor and terrace of Sir Joan Hotel, the upscale pop-up offers the expected steak (there are 10 cuts in total to choose from) as well as a selection of salads, carpaccio, sushi, and seafood. Save room for its ‘sinful’ dessert menu – the foam-filled signature tiramisu sounds excellent.

Niko Ibiza, Cala Longa
Does Ibiza need another sushi restaurant? The answer, according to Niko, is a resounding yes. The brand-new restaurant has just opened in Mondrian Ibiza and is centred around a huge open sushi counter where you can watch locally caught fish be transformed into delicate plates of nigiri, sashimi, and maki – all against a backdrop of Ibiza’s omnipresent blue coast. The music concept is also of note – it’s dually inspired by Tokyo’s listening bars and Ibiza’s famed Balearic beats.

Sonrojo, Cala Longa
So, you’ve swum in the sea, dried off on the sand, and made a decent headway through your book. The next item on your agenda? A laidback lunch of boat-fresh fish and an ice-cold beer. And that’s exactly what you can get at Sonrojo, the new all-day restaurant at Hyde Hotel in Cala Longa. It’s a sun-kissed mix of paella, sangria, and salad, seasoned with live performances from local musicians. But the best bit? It’s only a few sandy steps from Cala Longa beach.
