Battling Boredom?

Words by Quintessentially Education

19 June 2020

Whilst we all adjust to a world of social distancing and self-isolation, it is hard to think of ways to keep motivated and make good use of your time spent indoors. Not only is it essential to keep the body active during this time, but keeping the mind stimulated and healthy is also going to be crucial. So rather than binging on Netflix, why not make the most of the hours gained through lack of commute, by finally getting onto those linguistic aspirations that you have not found time for previously? Cue online language learning and our top tips as to why this is the perfect time to start.

Repetition Learning

Having extra time throughout the day means there is more opportunity for repetition learning, which is vital to the success of learning a new language. It is well-proven that linguistic skills develop much more quickly when practising daily than if you were attending a group class once a week. Repetition, repetition, repletion – et voila!

Human beings are social creatures, and if we are unable to participate in face-to-face interactions, a regular online language lesson can be a great opportunity for increasing your social interactions. You never know, you might even make a new friend.

Sense of Routine

When working from home for the first time, it can be challenging to maintain your daily structure. Creating new habits, such as practising a language for 30 minutes a day, can increase productivity and help support our general mental well-being.
