If you’re a fan of American football, there is no more important event every year than that of the Super Bowl. Being held in Miami on 2nd February, Super Bowl LIV will be spectacular, with a halftime show courtesy of Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.
Because of the Miami location, attendees can expect additional parties and events surrounding the game itself, as many athletes live in south Florida. Shaq, for example, has announced a special edition of his notorious ‘Fun House’ which typically takes place during Miami Music Week, this time with Diddy, Diplo, Pitbull, and Tiesto. Get ready—it’s guaranteed to be a whirlwind.
A peaceful base
Set up camp at The Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club. The historical property—having played host to dignitaries and celebrities throughout the 1940s and 50s—was gut-renovated and reopened a few years ago. An oasis of calm amongst the wild Miami landscape, it’s located just north of South Beach in a more tranquil part of Miami. Views overlook Biscayne Bay to Miami proper, and the rooms are tech-forward and comfortable.
Make sure you eat at The Surf Club Restaurant. Chef Thomas Keller, of French Laundry fame, helms this reinterpretation of the classic restaurant. The menu, expectedly, spotlights perfectly crafted reinventions of traditional seaside menu items—expect seafood-heavy options with a dose of classic steakhouse flair.
Pre-game
Get hyped for the main event with a visit to the Super Bowl Experience, sponsored by the NFL, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The only official NFL happening aside from the game itself, the theme park-style event will feature interactive games, merchandise, appearances by current and former players, plus the famous Vince Lombardi trophy.
Miami’s nightlife is legendary. Party ahead of the big game at Story, one of Miami’s megaclubs. From the team behind LIV, the exclusive club has a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, and a large VIP area. To guarantee entry and a comfortable place to hang out, pre-book a table in advance.
Gameday
Take the time to soak it in and enjoy everything game day has on offer. From Q&A’s with former players to pre-game parties to select food and drink, it is all worth experiencing. We recommend getting to the stadium early—recently renovated, Hard Rock Stadium is comfortable and plush with a suite of great food and beverage offerings. Try the famous fried chicken sandwich from David Chang, Jackson Soul Food, or perennial favourite Mojo Donuts.
R&R
Following what is sure to be a long night, take the Monday after the game to rest and recover. Head to Collins Avenue, and indulge in a big breakfast at Orange Blossom. The comprehensive menu is full of familiar classics, plus some new favourites—they serve bottomless cocktails, as well. From there, walk a block to the beach. Even though it may not be tanning weather, it will likely be warm, so take the opportunity to relax and breathe in the salty air. The people-watching is unparalleled.
