The Lower East Side has seen a resurgence in nightlife with new hideaways opening all over the trendy, hipster region of New York City. One such lounge is Rumpus Room which debuted two weeks ago with a soft opening. Formerly known as Sapphire Lounge, the famous hot spot that opened in 1992, owner Jahan Salarimatin has now teamed up with industry heavyweight, Athena Hom, and music executive, Gabriel Levy, to bring this staple venue back to life.
Rumpus Room is designed to elevate the senses - from the lights and music to the stunning decor all these elements make party revelers come back for more. Celebrity designer, Gulla Jónsdottir of G+ Designs, has decorated the space with burnt wood and bamboo walls, light coconut colored floors, a sleek copper bar, and hand sewn leather banquettes. Inspiration came from a French nightclub that Levy frequented as a teenager in Arcachon, France called The Exotic Bobo Club; think fun, upbeat, cool, and dancy.
The cocktail menu also has some interesting twists including flavorful libations such as the "Ruspoli Sapphire" composed of gin, lemon juice, blue curaçao and prosecco, garnished with a lemon twist. These tasty beverages along with a rotating deck of notable DJs make Rumpus Room a venue that should not be missed.
