For those wanting to dine in style, whilst still experiencing the intimacy and comfort of their own living room, Quintessentially Insider propose a few of London's most impressive private dining rooms…

MERCHANT'S TAVERN

Following the modern European restaurant's successful launch last October, Merchant's Tavern has opened The Storeroom – their chic basement private dining room. As the same suggests, the walls are cleverly lined with food and wine produce, creating a striking ambience for those seated at the room's central communal table. Accommodating up to 22 people for casual dinners, the room can also be turned into a standing cocktail party, serving chips and truffle cream, beetroot with whipped ricotta and bream ceviche to 40 exuberant guests.

36 Charlotte Road

HUTONG

Yet another stellar spot at the capital's iconic Shard, is the sky-high Hong-Kong inspired restaurant – Hutong. The venue wows guests with its panoramic views, lively Shanghai Bar, dramatic dark latticework interiors and multiple spacious private dining rooms, which can collectively seat over 150 guests. The high-end menu artfully captures the fiery surprises of Northern Chinese cooking; including an Abalone and Daikon Salad (fresh and slow-cooked for 3 days), Lobster fried with Sichuan Pepper and of course, Roasted Peking Duck.

BALTHAZAR

Having arrived in style from across the pond, Balthazar was one of the biggest openings of 2013. Expect a recreation of the New York mothership with a brasserie-style brunch menu and buzzing cocktail bar – regardless of the time of day. Perched above the lively main dining room is Balthazar's very own private dining area, complete with its own bar, lounge and personal entrance. Up to 60 guests can experience the delicious food, sophisticated ambience and exceptional service in a more intimate setting.

4-6 Russell Street

HIBISCUS

Nestled in the very heart of Mayfair, lies Chef Patron Claude Bosi's Michelin starred, Hibiscus - brought all the way from its original home in Shropshire. Whether dining in the main restaurant, the exclusive private dining room or the theatrical chefs table – this restaurant promises diners fresh, seasonal ingredients within classically trained; yet modern-day inspired European dishes. Beautifully set aside from the main restaurant, the private dining area can accommodate up to 30 guests, boasting a rustic cellar directly opposite.

29 Maddox Street

BERNERS TAVERN

Located right off the lobby of the fresh London Edition Hotel, this gastronomic gem offers a simple yet elegant, contemporary British menu. Guests can experience custom-designed private dining packages in an intimate space inspired by NYC's Grand Central Station, seating up to 14 diners. Huddled around a modern, long dark walnut table romantically lit by an original historic skylight, visitors can enjoy all day dining, 'Fish Fridays' and a quintessential British Sunday Roast.
