A virtual journey to Argentina

Whilst still at home, our desire for travel continues to grow – escape with us, virtually, to Argentina.

Words by Keven Amfo

As we remain homebound for the time being, our desire to get out and explore the world is only deepening. To quench a bit of that thirst, we're journeying virtually to Argentina, a vast and exciting country. From celebrated wine to booming cities, to Patagonia's peaks and glaciers, Argentina is a country of extremes and mesmerizing vistas.

Your adventure will begin in Buenos Aires, oft called South America's Paris. Enjoy the city's cosmopolitan flair before travelling south to explore El Calafate's glaciers, making sure not to miss Los Glaciares National Park. From there, travel up to the Andes' foothills and the stunning city of San Carlos Bariloche.

Finally, conclude your trip in the majestic Iguazu Falls, one of the world's largest and most impressive waterfalls, absorbing the breathtaking beauty and elaborate ecosystem.

Then, transport yourself to Awasi Iguazu. This magical destination is on the Iguazu River's heavenly banks, just 20 minutes from the world's largest waterfalls. Immersing yourself in the breathtaking natural surroundings, coffee is best enjoyed on your terrace, Argentinian style…

Coffee

Recreate that vibe from home. The flavour of Argentinian coffee is created by pouring near-boiling water over grounds in a cloth filter. For a truly authentic taste, mix sugar into the grounds (it dissolves as the hot water is poured over it), then add the coffee to a cup filled halfway with warm milk – and enjoy, ideally alongside a pastry.

What to watch

Patagonia

This emotional story tells the separate journeys of two women, one in Wales and one in Argentina. Depicting the beautiful Argentine autumn, it paints a wonderful picture of the country, its people, and its landscape.
