Elleven: Dentistry with Style

Teeth whitening has become big business thanks to celebrity smiles that fill our screens, magazines and Instagram accounts. The trend for brighter, whiter teeth is ever increasing and not surprisingly when your smile is one of the first things people notice when they meet you.

With a number of dental practices offering the service it's hard to know where to start or who to trust. One such place is the award-winning Elleven clinic bang in the middle of central London on Devonshire Place W1. With an A-list client base that includes a number of celebrities from the world of film, music and television, Elleven has established a reputation as the go-to place for the perfect smile thanks to pioneering cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics.

The most striking sensation you have when entering the clinic is that it feels akin to your favourite luxury hotel – not what you expect from a dental clinic – which instantly makes you feel relaxed. The clinic is all high ceilings, soft furnishings and elegant design with all the latest luxury magazines and a coffee area as you wait.

I was booked into see Dr Peta Leigh who is the clinic's lead for tooth whitening and dedicated to maintaining the highest standards possible. On entering her treatment room I was amazed at first by the size of the space, and then by the soft pink furnishings and large windows overlooking central London.

Dr Leigh is not what you expect either, at-once friendly, warm and chatty she sat me down to have a thorough consultation. She explained that Elleven offers both general dental and orthodontic treatments, so that clients who visit can have the entire 360 degree offering from their pool of professional dental talent. Using the very latest technology. Dr Leigh informed me that Elleven believes that a perfect new smile should not only be refreshed but that it must also work in balance with the rest of your face.

Photographs were taken of my teeth and we talked about the colour I could expect after the treatment. Gel moulds were made of my teeth which, although a slightly strange sensation, was a completely painless and quick experience. I was given an at-home personalised kit with my own initials – more like your favourite clutch rather than anything medical. The kit included instructions, my customized mouth guards and small syringes with the whitening gel for when at home. Over a two-week period I applied a small amount of gel on each of the teeth in the mouth guards and slept with them in each night. I found sleeping in the guards the easiest and most effective way to get the best results but was told you could put them in for an hour each day or have a day on and off.

This was my first time at experiencing teeth whitening and the results even after a couple of nights were instantly whiter and brighter. I found the whole experience and the results at Elleven fantastic and the team highly professional and experienced. The location is perfect when jetting into London for a short time and the service discreet. A must for your luxury little black book!
