“My business partner and I spent a month in Thailand and found the architecture there to be utterly beautiful. Everything plays on the balance between the indoors and outdoors, everywhere you look there is greenery, landscaping, water and fire. We designed this to be an urban retreat; it doesn’t feel like you’re one minute away from Sunset Boulevard. A lot of the architecture in LA is extremely modern, so we wanted to do something a little different. The home was designed to be highly functional and easy to live in, while making the occupant feel like they’re on permanent vacation. Each bedroom has its own deck or outdoor space, and you’re surrounded by water with the pool and spa, then there’s greenery, wood, sandstone, and lots of light. The dark louvres also add an Asian touch and a sense of tranquility. We’ve built over 30 homes and every time, I’ll think how much I love sitting and being in each one.
