Our four global hubs share their recommendations on the best local swimming spots to beat the summer heat.

As the dog days of summer are upon us, the Northern Hemisphere is collectively searching for a place in which to dip our toes. To answer this query, we checked in with each of our four hubs—London, Hong Kong, Dubai, and the US—to find the best recommendations on where to go to cool off. Here are our discoveries; as the world is still in such a state of flux, please check local government guidelines and restrictions before venturing out.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong Four Seasons Hotel Pool

Four Seasons Hotel Pool

Seemingly one with Victoria Harbour, this incredible infinity pool is heated for year-round use but is really its best during the summer months. Dual hot and cold plunge pools provide a spa-like experience; open to hotel guests only.

Shek O Beach

Located on Hong Kong Island, this beach is a 20-minute taxi ride from Central Hong Kong, or hike the famous Dragon's Back trail to end up here. Stay to enjoy the sunset and a cocktail at Ben's Back Beach Bar, located on a smaller cove east of the main beach.

Tai Long Wan

This incredibly beautiful beach is located on a bay in the New Territories and is accessible via a 30-minute speedboat ride from Sai Kung Pier. Spend the entire day enjoying the crystal clear water, and pack snacks—services here are limited.

USA

LA

LA The Beverly Hills Hotel Bed

The Beverly Hills Hotel

The iconic pool at this—equally iconic—hotel has been a stomping ground for Hollywood's elite since opening. Their considered snacks and drinks keep you cool all day; if you can splurge on a cabana for a truly luxe experience.

SLS Beverly Hills

This rooftop pool features Vegas-style day parties on the weekends, replete with DJs and 'pool valets.' And, you don't need to be a hotel guest to have access; Resortpass allows for a daytime visit to the pool or a cabana.

1000 Steps Beach, South Laguna

If you're willing to end your day with a bit of a climb, this beach is very much worth a trip—located many steps down from PCH, it is a wavy shoreline surrounded by beautiful sandstone cliffs.

Miami

The Standard

The Standard

Located on a quieter side of Miami Beach, this pool overlooks the bay. The Lido Bayside Grill serves healthy favourites, dip from pool to tableside and back.

The Biltmore

Technically located in Coral Gables, this enormous pool is still within easy reach of Miami proper. It evokes a majestic Mediterranean villa, and the vast size means you're almost guaranteed a bit of extra space.

Nautilus by Arlo

Styled with a nautical theme, this saltwater pool has underwater speakers so you won't miss a beat. The stylish cabanas receive excellent service—and, they offer a great selection of frozen drinks.

NYC

Mohonk Mountain House

Mohonk Mountain House

There are myriad swimming options at this New Paltz property: choose from an outdoor mineral pool, a heated indoor pool, or of course Lake Mohonk. Celebratory of its history, an escape here feels like a step back in time.

Georgica Beach, East Hampton

This popular stretch of East Hampton beach is idyllic and sandy. Make like the locals, and head out for an early morning (sunrise!) stroll.

The William Vale

Set in the heart of Williamsburg, this stylish hotel has been lauded for their 4th-floor pool since opening. As one of the biggest in NYC, there is more than enough seating plus the food—courtesy of chef Andrew Carmellini—is particularly delicious.

London

White city house

White City House

Perched atop the Television Centre, this pool is accessible to Soho House members or hotel guests only. Sun loungers surround the lovely pool, all with full service from morning till evening. Arrive early to grab a spot.

The Berkeley Hotel

This rooftop pool overlooks Hyde Park, and if that isn't reason enough to visit, the Tuscan-style garden and terrace surrounding it should seal the deal.

Cliveden House

The pool at this Berkshire hotel was made famous by the Profumo Affair many years ago but hasn't lost any of its appeals today. Surrounded by a picturesque lawn, it's the perfect place to while away a hot afternoon.

Dubai

Dubai Drift Beach Club at One Only Royal Mirage

Drift Beach Club at One & Only Royal Mirage

Pairing an infinity pool with idyllic beachfront, this glamorous beach club is set against the dramatic backdrop of the Dubai skyline. Access is available via day pass or for hotel guests.

The Lagoon at Park Hyatt Dubai

This new lagoon is set on the shores of Dubai Creek, with the skyline in the distance. Pristine white sand and excellent service make this tranquil option a true escape.

Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa

Set in the middle of the desert, each room at this resort has its own plunge pool. The beautifully tiled pools are built into the sand, so it feels as if you're swimming in an actual desert oasis.

Other Emirates

Sandy Beach Snoopy Island in Fujairah

Sandy Beach, Snoopy Island in Fujairah

The water at Sandy Beach is crystal clear—you can see straight through, quite deep. The ultimate in relaxation it is also an ideal destination for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Jumeirah, Saadiyat Island Resort

Three swimming pools and a private beach mean plenty of options for keeping cool in Abu Dhabi's heat. Each villa at this serene resort has sea views, and most have private pools.

The Ritz Carlton, Ras Al Khaimah Al Hamra Beach

Every villa at this resort features a private pool and direct beach access. Maximise your experience and proximity to the sea with a seaside spa treatment and dinner—the wonderful staff will set up your table directly in the sand.
