Order a selection of their snacks—we love the Crispy Maitake Mushrooms and the Kari Kari Chicken—or go full out and indulge in their signature Spicy Cod Roe Fish Pasta or the incredible Wagyu Steak.

12 E 12th Street, +1 212 620 4020Newly led by acclaimed chef Victoria Blamey, the inventive menu at Gotham Bar & Grill features new classics. The bar menu, limited but still fantastic, is available for delivery. The Lobster Eclair is an excellent start—follow it with the spectacular Vic's Burger, whose flavour is enhanced by the addition of bone marrow.

Start with their unique Jeju Chicken Wings and B and B Edamame, which is coated in black chili garlic sauce. Follow with their signature So-Ramyun, featuring brisket in a rich veal broth.

With a classic Japanese sushi-focused menu, there are many highlights—make sure to check the Fish Of The Day, usually flown in from Japan. To accompany the sushi, try their tempura, which is always crisp and fresh, and their Akadashi miso soup, which is rich with flavour.

Start with the crispy deviled Egg, followed by the rich and delicious Snow Crab noodles—and definitely include a side of the Heirloom Carrots with Chinese BBQ sauce.

7 Spring Street, +1 646 370 6650The downtown go-to for Thai, Uncle Boons is run by a husband and wife chef-owner duo. The classic menu is full of spectacular dishes. We prefer to start with the Grilled Yellowtail Collar, which is served with a lime and chili dipping sauce. As for mains, the Crab Fried Rice is an enduring favourite; the Kai Yang Muay Thai is a flavorful iteration of classic rotisserie chicken.

400 Fifth Avenue, 2nd Floor, +1 212 613 8660Located in the Langham Hotel, Chef Michael White's inventive Italian menu showcases homemade pasta. Delivery is available morning til night on Caviar. While the breakfast selections are well made and classic, we're here for the pasta—the Campanelle with shrimp and scallops is excellent. If you want something different, go for their famous burger, featuring a juicy Pat LaFrieda prime patty.

The extensive menu features all the classics; we particularly love their iteration of Kung Pao Chicken, Wonton Soup, and Spicy Baked Fish. They deliver all day—the lunch specials, which include an entree with rice, soup, and a spring roll, are a bargain.

In addition to a massive selection of caviar, they also sell necessary accessories (mini Mother of pearl spoons and plates, preferred over metal to avoid causing a reaction with the caviar) and accompaniments such as blinis and crème fraîche to maximise the meal. Pick up a bottle of champagne, and the lavish dinner is set.

381 Lenox Avenue, +1 646 766 0555Helmed by Japanese sushi master, Shinichi Inoue, this Harlem restaurant has a traditional Japanese sushi menu. Start with the Chawanmishi egg custard, then choose one of the Omakase courses. Available for delivery, the chef's choice menus guarantee you'll get the best fish available that day. Our favourite, the Maguro Deluxe, features eight buttery pieces from the Blue Fin Tuna family.

149 Broadway, Brooklyn, +1 718 384 0673Run by husband and wife Polo Dobkin and Stephanie Lempert, who grow many of the restaurant's vegetables on their upstate farm, this five-year-old restaurant has fast become a neighbourhood favourite. Their menu is seasonal, so be sure to check what's currently on offer—we crave the Crispy Baby Artichokes and the perfectly cooked American Wagyu Bavette.

5-48 49th Ave, Long Island City, +1 347 448 6040Chef Cosme Aguilar continues to serve crave-worthy Mexican food. We love absolutely everything, so it's hard to give ordering recommendations—you can't go wrong, though, with the Rajas Con Crema to start, and the Mole De Piaxtla (usually hard to find in NYC). The selection of tacos is spot on as well. Tack on their perfect Flan for dessert.
