It's safe to say that across the UK, most have been awaiting the 12th of April with bated breath. After a solid 12 months spent in varying degrees of lockdown, the reopening of pub gardens and outdoor dining is a respite we all need. A precursor to the 17th of May's mass exodus, this mini reprieve will prep us (hopefully) for increased levels of freedom throughout the next few months – and we're ready. Our list of places we plan to visit is lengthy; however, these are a few we particularly have our eye on… And we recommend booking swiftly, as spaces are limited.

Chameleon Garden and Greenhouses

1 Marylebone Road, NW1 4AQ

Set to be one of spring's hottest new openings, this Tel Avivian concept space in Marylebone will host a unique alfresco dining experience. The Grade I-listed building's garden space, pictured at top, will offer several seating options, including nine greenhouses seating up to 30 guests. An events programme, including cinema nights, dance classes and a flower market, will enliven the sharing plates-style menu.

The Berkeley Beach Huts

Catering to our desperation for travel, The Berkeley has crafted an alfresco dining experience that pays homage to Britain's foodie seafronts. Offering all-day dining options centred around seafood, each hut accommodates groups of up to six – this is a lovely option for a retro afternoon cocktail and seafood platter.

River Café

River Café

Thames Wharf, Rainville Road, W6 9HA

One of London's most iconic terrace dining experiences, the River Café, will reopen on the 12th. Covered and heated, a booking here will be honoured despite what British springtime may throw at us – expect their signature seasonal menu, spotlighting the magnificent simplicity of classic Italian cooking, alongside their thorough list of Italian wines.

Scott's

20 Mount Street, W1K 2HE

Mayfair's favourite seafood restaurant will be opening an extended terrace this week. Expanding upon their frontside tables, the new area will be able to accommodate additional guests. The Garden at The Corinthia

The Garden at The Corinthia

Whitehall Place, SW1A 2BD

Tucked away behind The Corinthia, nearby the Thames, this unique mosaic garden will be serving a Mediterranean-style menu from noon until midnight. Refreshing cocktails, pizzette and bright salads feel reminiscent of Italy; an extensive cigar menu and cigar sommelier are available for connoisseurs to enjoy after 9.30pm.
