Ibiza Guide

The old image of Ibiza as a Mecca for clubbing and hedonism has evolved somewhat over the past five to six years. The party atmosphere is still alive and kicking, but a new type of indulgence has reared its head as well, centred round exclusivity, refinement and wellbeing. Ibiza veterans keen to preserve their health and their sense of discretion have shifted their priorities, and this applies to the younger generation as well, perhaps weary of a society that never switches off. That's why we love to go back to Ibiza whenever we can, to see how the White Isle adapts to the trends and changes of a relentlessly challenging sector. That's our excuse anyway.

Going 'out out' ...

Ocean Beach Ibiza

A trip to Ibiza just wouldn't be the same without a visit to one of the island's well known beach clubs. Sitting pretty on the west coast of Ibiza in San Antonio is Ocean Beach Ibiza, a cracking place to let your hair down and and soak up the party atmosphere.

The venue is broken up into myriad sections, so you can enjoy the venue in a group or as a couple, You don;t have to be a party animal tearing up the dance floor to get the full value of the place either. There's plenty of space for those who'd rather sip cocktails by the pool, or relax in the jacuzzi or lounger away from the action. Little extras we rather like: the acrobatic performances high above the swimming pool are a sight worth seeing.

If you're spending the day at Ocean Beach Ibiza (which we recommend) then be sure to visit the restaurant for a long lunch in the shade. The menu is a fusion of Japanese, Mexican and European cuisine, all reasonably priced, fresh and delicious. If you're in a group, we recommend the sushi and seafood platters for sharing.

Good food, good vibes ...

STK Ibiza

A trip to STK Ibiza, pre-party, never disappoints. High-energy fine-dining, world-class hospitality and an eclectic programme of music and live entertainment. Following in the footsteps of its sibling restaurants in NYC, Miami, LA and London, STK Ibiza opened back in 2016, and has come a long way since. Its most recent highlight was the appointment of super-star chef, Matteo Bartaletti who joins the STK team for the summer of 2018. Bartaletti has worked in Michelin - starred restaurants around the world and promises to bring an extra dimension to the STK experience.

STK goes above and beyond the usual holiday fare of meat in an island setting, and actually provides an altogether gastronomic experience. Expect top-notch cuisine, including the finest quality steak, (with nine different cuts to select from) along with contemporary hits like truffle mac' and cheese. The cocktails are refined and the whole set-up works well against the backdrop of cabaret-style performances and live DJ's throughout the evening.

Located in the trendy Ibiza Corso Hotel & Spa, Marina Botafoch, STK has become one of Ibiza's most sought-after restaurants, and has hosted a selection of A-list celebrities, including Eva Longoria, Nicole Scherzinger and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Destino, Ibiza

If you're looking for something sophisticated and authentic that hasn't had the personality sucked out of it by its party-vibe siblings, you'd go a long way to beat Destino. It's part of the Pacha group, and extremely slick as resorts go. The outdoor terrace with views across the sea and the delicate menu, would rival any restaurant on the island.

As with most places in Ibiza, there is an element of entertainment provided throughout your evening, so now's your chance to get involved and get Flamenco dancing. Or not?

Treat yourself ...

Revival Spa by Clarins at Aguas de Ibiza Hotel

Chances are you'll be on the lookout for some pampering during your break. Take a trip to the north-west coast of the island and Santa Eulalia Bay, to Aguas de Ibiza Lifestyle & Spa. Housed within is the Revival Spa by Clarins, a vast oasis of calm that's set the benchmark for beauty and well-being treatments on Ibiza and around Europe. Take your pick or just book in for a day, and make the most of the spa treatments and the exercise programmes. Everything has been carefully positioned for maximum wellbeing impact, from the juice detox to the all-white, minimalist space designed for mind, body and spirit balance. If you're feeling frazzled by life this has to be the place to be.

As if these perks weren't t enough, there are three indoor pools, complete with wave machine, jet-massage underwater lounges and an underwater circuit with 11 different Jacuzzi effects. And to top it all, for an exclusive well-being binge, the sauna, steam room, traditional hammam, Roman bath, Feng Shui pool and stimulating walk-through shower circuit, are impossible to resist.
