Want to eat dinner at one of the capital’s best restaurants? Here are the top five reservations that were most requested in 2019.

1 - Bob Bob Cité, Leadenhall Building, 122 Leadenhall Street EC3V 4AB

The new location from the group behind favourite Bob Bob Ricard was the most requested table of 2019—and it’s clear why. A modern iteration of the classic French brasserie in the heart of the city, the beautifully-designed restaurant features opulent all-booth interiors, replete with mirrored walls. The traditional French fare, perfectly executed, comes courtesy of a kitchen helmed by celebrated chef Eric Chavot. An extensive French-leaning wine list complements the perfectly-serviced meal.

This sophisticated Italian restaurant comes courtesy of New York’s Scarpetta family of restaurants. The elegant interiors serve perfectly-executed, classic Italian food—including Scarpetta’s famous Spaghetti with Tomato and Basil—such as homemade pastas and breads, using the best of seasonal and local ingredients. Visit before the end of the month for the best of truffle season. If you like a nightcap after dinner, visit their downstairs bar and lounge Nolita Social for a perfectly made cocktail alongside live music.

3 - Endo at Rotunda, 8th Floor, The Helios, Television Centre, 101 Wood Lane W12 7FR

Each of the 16 seats at this tiny sushi restaurant in the ever-evolving Television Centre is at the sushi bar, where the chefs themselves will personally serve guests. Chef Endo, whose previous restaurant credits include El Bulli, is a third-generation sushi master. Every detail of this extraordinary dining experience has been carefully thought out—the 200-year-old Hinoki wood sushi counter comes from the forests of Tochigi, and the water for their signature Yamagata rice is shipped in barrels from Endo’s home village outside Yokohama. His relationship with fish suppliers means melt-in-your-mouth, buttery fresh nigiri.

4 - Circolo Popolare, 40-41 Rathbone Place W1T 1HX

The queues at this new Fitzrovia Sicilian trattoria, from Paris’ Big Mamma Group, have fast become a mythical legend. It’s true—most tables are held for walk-ins—the restaurant quickly became one of the most desirable in town. The fun and beautifully decorated interiors feel like summer year-round. Lively and loud, it’s open from breakfast through dinner, and the menu encourages both indulgence and sharing. Order La Gran Carbonara, served in a round of pecorino, and make sure to save room for one of the over-the-top desserts.

Amazonico Noted

5 - Amazonico, 10 Berkeley Square W1J 6BR

A latecomer, this recently-opened restaurant has catapulted itself onto this list. Featuring an array of flavours from all across Latin America—including Peruvian sushi and open fire cooking—the London outpost of the celebrity-favourite Madrid restaurant from husband and wife duo, Santo da Silva and Marta Santos, does not disappoint. Rainforest-themed interiors accompany nightly live jazz and an in-house DJ. The vibrant and festive atmosphere complements the food; we loved the vegetable sides and the chimichurri-marinated steak. A tropical cocktail list is worth exploring.
